Some Kratom Dosing Methods:
Kratom dosing can be as unique and individual as your fingerprint, as it varies from person to person. For many people who are trying kratom for the first time it’s common to use a friend’s recommendation or some advice posted online, although these shortcuts can often be tricky and ineffective. The long story short is that Kratom effects the mu receptors in your brain, and these receptor sites don’t care if you are male or female, 105 lbs or 260 lbs, as in many cases a smaller female consumer will have to take a larger dose for Kratom to work properly. In other words, Kratom’s effectiveness comes down to a few different factors (as detailed below) and none of them are size or gender.
- Digestion – Your stomach and GI tract have to be able to digest kratom powder, and many people today suffer from a litany of GI issues that unfortunately go undiagnosed. Some examples are: leaky gut syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and many others.
- Medications – If you’ve been taking opiates or opioid medications regularly, your receptor sites have most likely been engorged thus making Kratom in small doses ineffective. In other words, taking opiates/opioids regularly raises your tolerance and you’ll need to take more Kratom than someone who doesn’t in order for it to be felt. Some examples are: Heroin, Oxycontin, Vicodin, Norco, and several other medications.
- Genetics – Simply put, some people just have higher tolerances than others.
- Diet – This can get a little confusing, but some foods act as a potentiator or catalyst to the active alkaloids contained within Kratom (Mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine). Moreover, the amount of food currently in your belly can also impact or lessen the effects of Kratom. For example, Kratom consumed after a Thanksgiving dinner won’t be as effective as the dose taken after fasting all night.
The best way to discover your Kratom serving size is to experiment safely by starting with a very small dose (say 1 gram), assess the way you feel, and then to add more incrementally only if needed. If done correctly, this process should take a day or two until you get the desired outcomes of pain relief, euphoria, and/or anxiety reduction. The right Kratom dose for you is just that – ‘the right dose for you‘ and not what a friend suggested or a dose you saw on a blog or on a youtube video. Once you find a dose that works it’s important to remember that Kratom taken in a lower dose is said to have more energetic effectiveness, while Kratom taken in larger doses is known for sedation. Taking too much Kratom can result in sickness, nausea, vomiting, etc.. In short, once you find a Kratom dose that feels good to you consider making that your serving size. If you choose to take the a tincture or extract, use the same process by starting slow and logically safely increasing (only if needed).
A very important factor to discovering your ideal Kratom serving size is to have a trusted Kratom vendor. Ideally your vendor tests and prints the Mitragyna and 7-Hydomitraginine percentages which should be clearly labeled on their packaging, along with laboratory testing for adulterants, yeast, mold, E.Coli, Salmonella and bacteria on every strain they sell.
